It was good to have a party to go to because I really wanted to practise this look, especially the beehive ‘lite’ which only took 15 minutes. A bit messier than I would have liked but I have two children so time was scarce. The make up took 45 minutes to achieve.

This is another special occasion variation of 1940s look, with very light luminous eyes, almost silvery white. Not much contouring or deep shadows. Foundation is a shade lighter too. Would suit an outfit like a cheongsam or qipao.

Brush Roll I made, a padded and comfy bed for my dear brushes

Pin the sandwich of fabric, wadding and lining together. Pin the pocket for brush slots to the sandwich

Brush slots must get narrower and narrower. Easiest way is to pin the brushes in place.

Snip corners of your sandwich. Pin a contrast fabric strip for the binding.

Brush Roll

The very Friday I finished my course at Illamasqua I made a brush roll. When I got to the bias binding, I was getting very fed up. But it’s worth it as it’s now done and used all the time.
